BioLike I'd said in Wolfcat_dryfgi, I'll get around to this sometime, here's a quick summary:
Wolfcat, born January 1968 Balboa Hospital to a Navy submariner and a young wife, spent the first 11 years of my life moving almost once a year all over the United States and a good part of the Pacific Rim. While overseas, I was addicted to anime, and we were transferred back to the States a mere week and a half before President Marcos banned the robot cartoons from the airwaves in the Philippines.
I hated school - I dressed and spoke differently, and the system refused to acknowledge what schooling I had, so for three years I ended up doing the same busywork during those moves. Spent as much time reading as possible (has anything changed here?), checking out literally stacks of books each week from school, the bookmobile and every library trip. Enjoyed music-band for three years, choir as feasible, including in my parent's church and a small singing group, as well as voluntarily joining choir during my lunch.
Gamed with some of the seamen in my dad's commands overseas, hung out with these cool Norse folks at Viking Fest, and then at a Medieval Faire right next to the school every year, and finally came out of the closet to my folks about gaming and the SCA at 18, about 4 or so years later.
College was interesting. I became more active in SCA, Dagohir, TFA, gaming, and different clubs, participated more at sf cons, even on constaff. Ended up moving out in 1990, traveled to cons all over the US and had a lot of fun.
A single mom, my son was born June 21st, 1994 and I've cut back on the cons for now--only going to 1 or 2 a year outside of the Pacific NW, usually Loscon to see my heartfriends and family. While I miss seeing them as often, he is ultimately worth it!
